Glamour girls at Galanni
Couture label Galanni made its debut appearance at this year's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. With 10 years experience behind the label, designer duo Lenna and Catherine Vasilas certainly didn't disappoint in delivering beautifully intricate, feminine dresses. The dresses revealed a unique exploration of the feminine silhouette through the use of sculpted metal-work, lace, gems and sexy but classy modern cuts that allowed the viewer a glimpse of some skin. With the vibe of old Hollywood glamour filling the collection, the label certainly showed why they are still in the business after so long.

Due North with Bec & Bridge

Backstage goofball Ashton Flutey from Work Agency |
I always love a good bohemian, nomadic inspired
collection and Bec & Bridge certainly didn't disappoint. For
their Spring/Summer 2014/15 collection aptly named "Due North",
designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston took the Bec & Bridge girl on a bohemian
journey.
The boho vibe was communicated through chambray fabrics, shredded and
hand-woven denim which was finished off with raw hemlines. But the brand still
held onto their signature style with their body hugging dresses and white minis
that gave the label its girly feel. The colour palette of navy and powder
blues, summer whites and blacks certainly provided a serious cool factor and was easy to envision the girls of Bondi rocking these looks out.

Underwater pastel world with Karla Spetic

Mega babe Sophia Rambaldini from Chic Management |
For her SS14/15 collection, Karla Spetic
showcased a sports-inspired collection at the Eora Pool in Redfern. The wet
hair look with pastel pinks and blue wefts complimented the poolside setting,
conjuring the notion of the models just coming out of the water.
Opening with crisp white shirt dresses,
Karla set the tone for a presentation of classic wardrobe updates. Sheer panels
with ruffled detailing, subtle ocean prints, and all white Reebok sneakers
ensured that this was a strong and lustful collection. With the clothing being
fun and flirty, it was easy to envision the pieces seamlessly fitting into any
wardrobe and outfit.
It was a truly standout collection and a
great way to end the first day of fashion week. It was also a great choice of
an off-site location that really assisted in communicating the brands vision.

Strateas Carlucci rose the bar high on day one of fashion week. Designers Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci showed a well edited and superbly styled minimalist collection in a colour palette of navy blues, greys, whites and blacks. The clothes were tailored to perfection, making me want to buy everything for the colder weather coming. Complimented by the amazing Tiffany & Co jewellery, this show was truly a breathe of fresh air. There was pieces for everyone, from merino wool lapel-less jackets to sturdy kangaroo leather jackets with exposed industrial zippers.
Definitely chasing up stockists next week.
